with changes in farming communities, many old barns across the midwest have become unkept, outdated or are no longer necessary. we view these barns not as garbage or landfill, but as a wonderful source of vintage wood. wood that has the physical look that only comes from decades of natural weathering. wood with character that has the history of an actual working farm or farming family behind it.

unlike most crews, we don’t use bulldozers to knock these vintage barns down and tear em’ apart! this delicate stuff is much too precious! old fashioned manual labor is how we dismantle and salvage the wood ... preserving it’s beautiful weathered state.

we carefully go through beforehand and save all the original pegs, joints and hardware. from time to time we may also find other vintage items in the barns. we then clean the items up and feature them in our showroom for sale.

the dismantled wood is then taken to our shop in chicago or our mill in mchenry county where it is cut down to manageable size. from there we can offer our customers wood for any project - large or small. bringing new life to old wood!
